The Roads traveled by each of us on our life journey
may be straight and smooth,
rough and winding
full of pot holes and detours,
through calm, soothing landscapes
or surrounded by noise, clatter and distractions.
Some of us have maps to guide us;
some do not.
Some have directions written out by others;
some follow their own instincts.
Some choose to follow the road taken
by many;
some prefer to build a new one.
When confronted by obstacles in their way,
some climb over them;
some go around them;
some stop, and proceed no further.
There is no guarantee
that any of us will reach a destination.
We are all equal travelers
on this journey.
Enabled or disabled,
intellectually challenged,
or cognitively whole,
our ticket only allows us passage;
what we do with our journey is up to us.
